The NBS Western Region Youth Program presents the 14th annual BEST Program. The program is specifically targeted for minority youth. The program is a weeklong series of lectures, presentations, learning experiences/activities and videos that are strategically organized to create and obtain the best possible learning environment for youth. The program is intellectually stimulating and fun! Traditionally the BEST Program has been a summer program and held at various college campuses. Youth are housed in the college dorms, have access to other college campus facilities, and are chaperoned by adult volunteers from the NBS ski & snowboard clubs.
Professionals from various business entities, community leaders and public officials are invited as presenters and instructors and serve as role models
for our minority youth. This year's program includes the following sessions: Career Exploration & Preparedness, Conflict Resolution/Violence Prevention, Owning your own business, Money Management, Value of Investing, College Preparation, How to take standardized tests, Social
Etiquette and Personal Awareness (Speech and Diction), Role Play, Job Interviews, Financing College, Teen Dating and Relationship work groups.
Note: Curriculum subject to change.
Target age range: 13-18 years of age.
Cost $215.00 includes: Ground transportation, 5 days in dorm housing, breakfast, lunch, dinner, field trips, supplies and materials, workshops/seminars and special presentations, carry-tote bag and recreational activities
.NOTE: NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!. Please register through your local ski or snowboard club. Payment must be made by money order, cashier's check or club check. Make checks payable to "NBS Western Region Youth".
