			Cancer And AIDS "Twin Scourges of the Black Community"

A CME Course At The National Brotherhood of Skiers Mini-Summit, Sun Valley, 
Idaho,
Febuary 1-2, 1998.  Sponsored by the University of Rochester School of 
Medicine and 
Dentistry, The University of Rochester Cancer Center, The Office of 
Continuing Professional Education, and BGG Enterprises.



oCourse Information:  A continuing medical education course covering breast 
cancer, prostate cancer and AIDS will be held during the mornings of 
February 1-2 and at 
Sun Valley, Idaho. The University of Rochester School of Medicine & 
Dentistry designates this educational activity for up to 8 hours in 
category 1credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
 
	oThe Course Objectives: 
 		oknow how to screen for breast and prostate cancer; 
		oalong with the appropriate specialist, be able to advise 
patients on treatment 		options for breast or prostate cancer and 
to support that patient and their 					family in the 
decision-making process; 
		ounderstand the significance of AIDS in the black community, and 
common 
		misconceptions in the black community regarding AIDS; 
    		ounderstand criteria for AIDS testing; 
		orecognize oncological, dermatological and neurological 
manifestations of 				HIV infections; 
		odevelop strategies for dealing with the emotional issues facing 
the AIDS 				patient and family.
